John Nam: So Far
John Nam was born in
June, 1979 in Seoul, Korea. He moved to New York in December,
1993 to study abroad. In June, 2002, John received his undergraduate
degree in music from Cornell University in New York. In May,
2004, he received his master's degree from the University
of Michigan in Jazz Improvisation.
For the past few years,
he has studied jazz piano with gifted jazz pianists Ellen
Rowe, Tad Weed, Molly MacMillan, Garry Dial and Keigo Hirakawa.
He has also taken lessons from nationally and internationally
renowned jazz artists such as Hank Jones, Barry Harris, Mulgrew
Miller, Eric Lewis, Renee Rosnes, Robert Hurst, Helen Sung,
Angelica Sanchez and Miki Hayama.
John has established
himself as one of the busiest jazz pianists in the southeast
Michigan area, having more than 500 performances from the
year 2003 to 2004. He has performed at various venues with
